Brochure Design Process

Your company’s brochure design is the perfect piece to have speak for you in your absence. Making it a valuable marketing tool to use as a leave-behind or a direct mail campaign. Uptown Design Agency’s designers will work with you to ensure that it represents your greatest assets and benefits for powerful presentations that will help you close the sale.

UDA designs dynamic, professional looking brochures through a process that consists of 8 steps:

DECIDE THE OBJECTIVE OF YOUR BROCHURE
You need to be as specific as possible about what it is you’re trying to say and make sure it’s a message that is obvious to all of your audience. It helps to collect samples of other brochures that have elements you want to incorporate into your project to help in communicating your visual ideas.

CLARIFY WHO YOUR AUDIENCE IS
Is it your normal demographic or are you targeting your message towards a specific group in hopes of  stimulating business in a different area? Knowing your audience is crucial before you can decide how your message will best reach them.

CHOOSE THE FORMAT FOR YOUR BROCHURE
Options vary from sizes to how the piece is folded. Your budget may play a large part in choosing the format, but keep in mind that even a small, black and white brochure can draw plenty of attention if the message is clear and your audience will see it.

DEVELOP THE CONCEPT OF YOUR BROCHURE
The concept will be based on the data collected about your audience. The message for your product(s) or service(s) needs to stay consistent throughout the brochure. This is where our expertise will come into play. All you need to do is watch it happen.

CHOOSING APPROPRIATE IMAGERY FOR YOUR PROJECT
The visual aspect of your brochure involves your graphics and text. 70% of readers are drawn in by a picture or graphic, while 30% read the headline first. If you don’t have any ideas for your image(s) we will gladly assist you in the selection process.

CREATING AN EFFECTIVE AND SIMPLE HEADLINE
Even the simplest of headlines can be powerful and personal, touching the emotions of the reader. Try to convey simple truths that will have an impact on your target audience. If you need assistance with a headline, we will be glad to brainstorm with you.

FILLING THE BROCHURE WITH PERTINENT COPY
Your brochure’s copy is the argument that backs up your headline. It’s the “point” of the brochure. Be clear and specific, and try to keep it short. A brochure with a lot of text can defer a reader’s attention. Remember to avoid clutter on your brochure. You want it to be an inviting page where the reader will stay for awhile, like a comfortable room.

YOUR FINAL BROCHURE IS READY TO BE DISTRIBUTED
The layout of your brochure brings all of your previous work together. We will offer two different layouts of the brochure for you to consider, then you decide which brochure is more visually pleasing. We can then modify the layout if needed.
